RENOVATION  OF  CHILDREN'S  ASTHMA  CENTRE  TO  ENHANCE  PATIENT  CARE

Two  Major  Donors  Kick-Off  Support for  Project

Winnipeg, MB (May 2, 2006)  In celebration of World Asthma Day, the Children's Hospital Foundation announced support from two major donors to begin the renovation of the Children's Asthma Education Centre to enhance care for Asthma patients.

Through this renovation, we will be able to add some clinic space to the Asthma Education Centre, said Dr. Allen Becker, a pediatric allergist and immunologist at Children's Hospital.  Thanks to the support of these major donors, children will be able to have clinic appointments and asthma education all in the same place.  The end result will be enhanced patient care.

The lead corporate gift for this project is from RE/MAX.  RE/MAX has been a supporter of the Children's Hospital Foundation since 1992 and has raised more than $750,000 in support of the Foundation.  This year RE/MAX has committed $150,000 that will go towards this renovation project.

Asthma is the most common chronic respiratory disease in children affecting about 10 - 14% of Canadian children.  Each year approximately 20 children die each year in Canada from asthma.  Most of these deaths can be prevented with proper education and treatment.

The Children's Hospital Foundation gratefully acknowledges the outstanding support RE/MAX for their commitment and understanding of the importance of asthma care.

This year the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba has committed $5 million in support of child health and pediatric research, programs and equipment at Children's Hospital and the Manitoba Institute of Child Health, our research division.  We continue to reach these goals through the support of our donors and community partners...because children need us.

RE/MAX in Winnipeg is proud to support numerous worthwhile charities and events in Winnipeg. Whether it is our on-going support of the Children's Miracle Network or the Children's Hospital Teddy Bear picnic, you will often see our presence at major community events.

RE/MAX "MIRACLE HOMES" HELP KIDS

RE/MAX sales associates in Winnipeg helped boost CMN's annual television fund raiser to a record $133 million.

Local contributions from sales associates at RE/MAX in Winnipeg totaled $250,000 which are donated entirely to the Children's Hospital Research Foundation. RE/MAX Winnipeg is giving back to the community through a unique program, Miracle Home, which allows them to contribute a portion of the income from the sale of each home to CMN.

The Miracle Home Program
The Miracle Home? Program, exclusive to RE/MAX International, Inc., began in 1991 as a vehicle for sales associates to give back to the children and families in the communities in which they live and serve. RE/MAX Associates in North America have contributed more than $7.9 million, since theirs partnership with CMN was established, through this and other fund raising programs.

RE/MAX sales associates also raised funds by helping with many other fund raising events.

What is Children's Miracle Network?
Children's Miracle Network is both an international non-profit organization and the name of its annual 21-hour broadcast. CMN's mission is to generate funds and awareness programs to benefit children and 160 associated hospitals/foundations for children in the United States, Canada and Mexico. CMN's hallmark is that 100 percent of locally-generated donations stay in the community in which they were made to benefit participating hospitals. The hospitals/foundations associated with CMN treat children with all types of afflictions.

International Involvement
When RE/MAX became the official real estate sponsor for Children's Miracle Network in January 1992, we had two objectives. The first was to affiliate ourselves with a national charity distinguished for improving health care for children. The second was to make the world a better place for the people we serve. The health of business is a reflection of the health of our society. We are committed to contributing to the health of today's child.

Children's Miracle Network is a non-profit organization founded in 1983. Its mission is to generate funds and awareness programs for children and associated hospitals. CMN began as an effort to produce a high quality national television special to raise money for hospitalized children.

When the CMN telethon first aired from a small studio, it was broadcast by 30 television stations. It yielded $4.7 million. Today CMN is the largest television fund raiser of its kind in the world. This 21 -hour international television special originates live from Disneyland and is broadcast by 200 television stations in the United States and Canada. Just a decade later, the broadcast raised $125 million.

RE/MAX and CMN - A Match with a Purpose
RE/MAX has a proven blueprint for success. One of the components of that blueprint is the involvement of Associates within their communities. We know and understand that community involvement contributes to increased business for our Associates. We call it Premier Community Citizenship.

Children's Miracle Network is an international organization wherein 100% of the funds raised stay within their communities. Likewise, RE/MAX is an international business where success depends upon the sum of many local successes. Our mutual involvement on a local level builds a natural affinity for our business interests. As a corporate sponsor of CMN, we enhance our role as local community citizens and as members of the global community. While improving the health of our society, we touch the local RE/MAX Associate and his or her community.

RE/MAX and Other Charities
Our involvement with children does not stop with CMN. We also contribute our time and and a financial committment to other charities such as the Children's Wish Foundation (we recently received a nice thank you and a certificate), the United Way of Winnipeg, the Canadian Cancer Society and the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society.
